LACMA ACQUISITION
It is with great pleasure that I announce that two works from the Stardust series 517 North Vine Street, Hollywood...then 2015, and 517 North Vine Street, Hollywood...now have been acquired by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
The Stardust series features ‘Stardust’ motels from different parts of the world and the two acquired existed in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The works exist in both ‘… then’ and ‘… now’ versions. They were found through old postcards and then google maps to explore how the buildings have changed overtime. This also demonstrates how digital technologies like Google maps might alter urban landscapes all over the world as we don’t rely on signage to guide us to our destination. They also owe particular debt to Los Angeles artists of the conceptual movement of the 1960's and 1970s in particular Ed Ruscha and his deadpan conceptual approach to his photography books such as 'Some Los Angeles Apartments’ photographed with a car camera construction similar to google maps.

DAVID MALOUF AND FRIENDS
Museum of Brisbane, 16 May 2014 — 23 Nov 2014
In David Malouf and friends contemporary artists Bruce Reynolds, Anna Carey, Karla Marchesi, Noel McKenna and Camille Serisier pay homage to Malouf by creating new artworks inspired by his writing. Showcasing the broad and timeless themes of his work, the artists explore the familiar layers of his writing – from childhood memories to the crossover of European traditions and the Australian dream. In turn Malouf will respond to the artist’s creations in writing featured in the exhibition.
